India claimed the title of SAFF U16 football championship defeating Nepal with a scoreline of 1-0 in Kathmandu. India defeated Nepal in Dashrath Stadium which is home ground of Nepal. This is India's first SAFF U16 title. In the last edition of Championship India was defeated by Pakistan in the final.
In the final of 2nd edition of SAFF U16 cup Nepal failed to score the goal besides making more goal scoring chances and possesion. The match was highly affected by rain. In the last edition also Nepal lost the match with India in Tie Breaker. Bangladesh secured the third position defeating Afghanista 1-0 in Army Ground. The mass of about 15000 were present in the final match in Dashrath Stadium. Fair play award was won by Bhutan.
